Q Do I have to apply for a vintner’s licence to produce wine for my own consumption?
A Under the new Wine Act, which has come into force on 21st June 2002, what was known as the private licence has now been terminated. Any winemaker who puts up his wine for sale must apply for a commercial licence on a yearly basis. This licence of Euro 46.59 must be obtained and renewed irrelevant of the volumes of wine being produced. This licence must be paid at the Viticulture & Oenology Unit at the Agricultural Research and Development Centre at Ghammieri.
